The further training concept at the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Pediatric and Neuroradiology

At the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Pediatric and Neuroradiology, comprehensive further training to become a specialist in radiology is offered with full training authorization (60 months).

As part of training and further education, rotation takes place in all areas of work, namely:

  • conventional X-Ray
  • Ultrasound
  • CT
  • MRI
  • Angiography
  • Mammography

In addition to acquiring skills in the area of image-based interventions, further training takes place in the focus of neuroradiology with full training authorization (36 months). There is also in-depth training in the focus area of pediatric radiology with full continuing education authorization (36 months). If you are interested, there is also the possibility of in-depth training in the specialist areas of cardiovascular imaging and musculoskeletal radiology, for which our institute is a DRG priority center.

After completing the basic rotations and obtaining the appropriate qualifications in computer tomography and sonography, the training assistants take part in the on-call or on-call service.

In regular employee discussions, the level of training of the training assistant is also evaluated, enabling them to carry out regular assessments of their own knowledge and skills.

In order to support our further training concept, a short training course through the various work areas in the form of a clinical case presentation takes place in a daily morning meeting. In-house scientific training on various radiological topics also takes place once a week. Current findings from radiological diagnostics and therapy, as well as results from experimental and clinical research projects, are presented and discussed here.

Scientific interest is encouraged and also made possible through broad collaboration with different institutes.

As a rule, training assistants achieve good to very good knowledge, experience and skills within five to six years in order to register for the specialist examination.
